"Toby has been instrumental in my fitness journey. Before becoming a client I thought I was doing all the right things, but I was not seeing the results I thought I should have. That created my struggle... and my struggle had complete control over every aspect of my health and fitness ideas and goals.

Although I am very active, my struggles and frustrations made me become very disenchanted and not really excited to work out. That disenchantment overflowed to poor nutrition choices outside of the gym. "My biggest struggle/frustration before working with Toby was that I didn’t know what I was doing or what was best for me once stepping into the gym. It was intimidating to go to a gym filled with people and I would also not push myself to my full potential once getting there, since no one was holding me accountable.

My frustrations prevented me from progressing in my level of fitness and improving my overall health. I would run for a while at a certain speed and incline, but not really know what that was getting me, and never change that routine.

Toby helped me in so many unexpected ways. I learned so much about my nutritional needs that I had been so clueless about. Toby helped me understand the importance of certain aspects of food/nutrition I was struggling with, giving me the information I needed from a source I trusted. This led to a huge difference in the results from the gym, and my overall well being.  He taught me enough about fitness to where I can now confidently go to the gym and know what I am doing.

Life is different for me now because I truly understand all the different components that go into a healthy lifestyle. Not only have I lost weight, which wasn’t a goal of mine, but I gotten stronger and healthier. I have found a passion that will be a part of the rest of my life, and benefit me all the while. "I especially enjoy training with [Toby] because I am learning how to be comfortable in the gym.  When I do work out on my own, I am confident that I will be safe and productive based on what we have done together.  When I first joined Fuel I did TRX with [Toby], then in January started personal training.  We've come a long ways.

My background and motivation for learning strength training came when my doctor told me I had osteoporosis; she said I needed to work on getting denser bones.  I made changes to my diet and exercise routine and the rewards have been great.  I feel healthier and stronger, I am developing muscle tone, and I have slimmed down.  I no longer dread going to the gym, and I am not worried about my next doctor's appointment.  Weight training has been the missing element of my athletic activities.  Now I have one more fun thing to do!"

I have been training consistently with [Toby], for 9 months, since February.
On the body side:
  • I lost 10 pounds in the first 4 months.
  •  My clothing size went from size 12 to 8 over the first 8 months.  
  • I have tone to my arms that wasn't there before
On the medical side
  • My osteoporosis has not gotten worse.  The dexascan showed we stopped the bone thinning.  I think I will see improvements with next test.
  • I am at a healthy body weight
  • My thyroid level changed twice, I am taking less medication
On the fitness side:
  • I did not enjoy going to the gym at first - now I look forward to making time for it
  • I enjoy seeing the measurable improvements that come with increased weights over time
  • I feel stronger and more capable in my daily activities
  • I used to walk my dog, now I like to jog...just because I can
  • I love knowing more about the gym and what weights and exercises I can do
On the well-being side:
  • I feel energized when I leave the gym
  • I have never gotten hurt while training with you
  • I have learned how to exercise indoors when I can't get outside
  • My swimming has improved, so it is more fun than before
I can't wait to go skiing and see what it feels like this season!
