When I started my isa journey in May, I had a trainer (that I hired) tell me that my goal was unrealistic. She said that I'm not in my 20's and "things change" after having two kids. I fired her and then I not only hit my goal but I surpassed it. Don't let anyone set your limitations and tell you that your goal is not achievable. Don't be afraid to set that bar high. It might not be easy, but with dedication and work you can make it happen.
8 months on Isa....
If I can do it anyone can. About me: I am a 33 year old busy, working mom to two boys. Hectic day to day stress had me feeling tired, sluggish and lethargic. I wanted to feel alive again and I decided to make a change.
May of 2014 I decided to make a change. I teamed up with an amazing lady and coach, Abby, and she helped me through the process of eliminating toxic, processed foods from our diet. I say "our" because this was a change I made for my entire family. We are all on board. I started with a 30-day system and by the end of my first month I had lost 16lbs and hadn't exercised at all.
By July of 2014, I gradually started to incorporate exercise into my daily routine. I was so out of shape, I could barely power walk a mile and running was out of the question. I kept at it, determined to get my health back.
By August 2014, I completed my first 5K. I walked most of it but I felt accomplished and determined to keep going. I started to incorporate more strength training into my daily routine.
I've progressed since there. I can now run up to 7 miles and I'm learning more and more about lifting and strength training.
The photo on the right was taken yesterday. I am down 72lbs total, but I've gained muscle, strength, energy and (most importantly) my health! I've opened a whole new door to fitness and I feel amazing!
One of my biggest take-aways from this whole journey is how this has positively impacted my entire family. I used to feel guilty for taking time for myself to go to the gym, but I've let go of that. My children benefit from having a healthier, more energetic and positive mom. My husband benefits (for obvious reasons haha). Lesson learned that self interest and selfishness are two different things.
I want to encourage other moms who are tired and don't feel like taking the time for themselves. It's important, that we do. As parents we need to set a healthy example for our children.
If you got this far, thank you. I hope this post encourages someone today. You have my permission to share if you think it would help someone with their journey
